Last week more than college students from our partner colleges in the Ukraine arrived in Frankfurt to fulfill a 6 months’ farm internship in southern Germany. This training program is part of the bilateral project “Improvement of Agricultural Education at Colleges in Ukraine” between the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture. The implementation of the training program for the Ukrainian students is based on the mututal cooperation between ADT and AKI International e.V. (www.agrarkontakte.de).

More than 100 college students applied for the opportunity to participate in this training program as it is a unique chance to gain valuable work experience and experience a different culture. The intensive preparation for the students consisted of German language classes, introduction to work and safety standards in German agriculture. After the mandatory quarantine, the students were introduced to the families where they will work and live for the next 6 months. As part of the program, the students undertake two excursions and a final joint meeting to exchange the experiences gained in Germany before returning to the Ukraine.
