Strengthening of dairy farming competences for the sustainable development of milk production in Kazakhstan, Phase 2
Strengthening of dairy farming competences for the sustainable development of milk production in Kazakhstan, Phase 2
The project aims to support the government of Kazakhstan in its efforts to increase milk production by strengthening operational and institutional expertise to develop modern, environmentally friendly and animal welfare-orientated milk production.
The aim of the second project phase is to strengthen the operational expertise and structures for sustainable advisory services for family and other milk-producing farms and to orientate environmentally and climate-friendly production processes and circular economy methods according to the principles of agroecology
Results are to be achieved in 4 areas:
- Specialists and managers from farms, advisory service providers and specialist institutions have increased their expertise in the planning, evaluation and use of moderne, agroecological production systems and inter-farm cooperation.
- Selected farms have improved operating results in milk production; have knowledge of basic agroecological principles in milk production; investments are planned and implemented taking into account the principles of agroecology in production systems orientated towards animal welfare
- A competence centre located in Almaty (AFZ-Bayserke-Agro) ensures appropriate training and further education of dairy production advisors; it enables the testing and demonstration of agroecological methods in the field of milk and feed production.
Competent advice for milk producers is ensured by a long-term service offered by the competence centre, the use of which is secured by a sustainable and tried-and-tested financing model.
